A golden turtle, the logo of Stable Road Foundation

At Stable Road Foundation, our motto is “feel the impact.” And whether we’re cultivating our home on Maui or venturing to remote communities around the world, we measure our impact by the tangible benefits we bring to people’s lives.

Our focus on sustained effort and concrete results has earned Stable Road Foundation the respect of peers, neighbors, and experts. Pacific Business News recently named our founder, Ed Freedman, to their 2025 Hawaii’s Most Admired Leaders list for his commitment to helping Maui rebuild after the historic, devastating wildfires.

Scroll down to see some of the projects that earned us this honor—and to hear the words of the people we’ve helped.

Global experience, hyperlocal impact

Here’s a look at some of the biggest impacts we’ve made recently:

Multigenerational households are a traditional way of life on Maui. But after the devastating wildfires, families were scattered across the island—separated from their loved ones, and separated from their land.

Together with disaster relief experts Global Empowerment Mission (GEM) and local partners, we helped reunite Laihana families like the Rickards back on their own land. Now, they’re inspiring others to return home too—and we’ll be creating space for them as well, with at least two more units planned for construction this year.

Schools for our keiki

Schools are at the core of every strong community, often in a literal sense. That’s why building schools has been a core focus of Stable Road Foundation, both at home and abroad.

People are willing to come back (and stay) in their hometowns if they know their kids will get a great education. A thriving community starts with a modern, high-quality school—so we’re committed to ensuring every child has a chance to learn.

Healthcare for everyone

Along with housing and education, healthcare is a pillar of every community. And quality healthcare requires modern lifesaving facilities and equipment.

That’s why we’re so proud to support the Maui Health Foundation. Our annual donations have helped them build a new Heart, Brain, & Vascular Center (and purchase the world’s smallest, most effective heart pump). That investment is already saving lives, and we’ve committed to supporting them for years to come.
