History

Founded in 2017 by Ed Freedman, the Stable Road Foundation focuses on children, education, and the environment. We engage with local leaders to understand the needs of their communities, and deliver real solutions with lasting impact. Motivated by a desire to "feel the impact," we partner with organizations at home and abroad to empower people to achieve their fullest potential.

Our work at home inspired Pacific Business News to name Freedman as one of Hawaii’s Most Admired Leaders. Since donating $1 million to aid Maui’s recovery from the devastating 2023 wildfires—delivering emergency aid, rebuilding homes & schools, and providing clean water to thousands of residents— the Foundation’s notable accomplishments in Hawaii include:

  • Partnering with Gov. Josh Green and Invest America to make Hawaii the first state in the union to provide funded investment accounts for all foster children

  • Contributing over $2 million to update medical facilities and bring cutting-edge equipment to Maui, including a new MRI machine and heart pump

  • Purchasing dozens of mobile power generators and durable tools to develop a new rapid response unit for the state’s disaster relief efforts

  • Producing an award-winning ocean conservation documentary narrated by Woody Harrelson

Overseas, Stable Road Foundation’s impact has been just as powerful—and its commitment to future projects is stronger than ever. From providing remote Philippines villages with electricity to making watersports accessible to children in Latin America, the Foundation is committed to making the world a brighter, more welcoming place for future generations.
